Often, the work of mixing the soil right, adding the right amount of nutrients, and tilling the soil regularly seems like a hassle to people. And if you are one of them, here are 10 plants that can be grown without soil and just in water.

Pothos

The Pothos vine is one of the easiest to grow in water and requires no soil and mud to keep growing. Just put a healthy Pothos cutting in a bottle of water and make sure that it is not completely submerged inside as it can lead to stem rot.

Snake plant

The Snake plant too can be grown without any mud or soil. To grow the snake plant in water, cut a leaf near the base, make a triangle-like shape, and place it in a bottle of water. Make sure that only the bottom part is dipped in water, and soon it will start growing roots.

Mint

Mint is one of the best herbs to grow and propagate in water. Just take a healthy and fresh mint cutting with a long stem and then dip it in a glass of water. Keep the leaves above the waterline and change the water every 4 days. Soon you will see new roots forming.

Coleus

The beautiful Coleus leaves, with green, pink and purple colour are a beautiful sight. To grow Coleus in water, take a cutting just below a leaf node and cut off any extra leaves. Also, dip the node in some honey and then keep in water to help with growth.

Lucky bamboo

Lucky bamboo is another plant that will grow well in water. Just place the bamboo stalks straight up in a glass jar or vase and then fill the jar with water only until the middle. Keep this jar in the sun for about 2 hours daily and change the water every week.

Spider plant

Spider plant, with its flowy, arching leaves, looks super nice indoors. And if you want to grow it without soil, just cut off one of the baby plants, dip the roots in water, and add some water-based fertiliser to boost its growth.

Philodendron

Philodendrons are also amazing houseplants that can be grown in both soil and in water. Take a Philodendron cutting with a large, thick stem and 3-4 leaves. Add this to a bottle of water and dip it node deep to promote growth.

Spiderwort

Spiderwort can also be easily grown in water and is an excellent addition to the home. The shades of green, purple, and red look extremely aesthetic, and a single cutting can produce many more leaves.

Rosemary

To grow Rosemary in water, cut a Rosemary stem from an already established plant, and make sure there are healthy leaves on the stem and at least 2 nodes in it. Then, dip the bottom node completely in water and show it about an hour of sunlight daily.

Monstera

The beautiful Monstera leaves can also be grown in water. Take a large vase and fill it with about 70% of water. Then, take a Monstera cutting and dip the node and root side into the water. Also make sure to show it 2-3 hours of direct sunlight to help with faster growth.
