Haryana Election Results 2024 Live: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is poised to secure a third consecutive term in Haryana, leading in 48 out of 90 seats, according to the election commission. The Congress, which hoped for a resurgence after a decade, is ahead in 36 seats, while Independents and the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) are leading in 3 and 2 seats, respectively.

Chief minister Nayab Singh Saini, Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda, and Independent candidate Savitri Jindal emerged victorious. However, INLD's Abhay Singh Chautala faced defeat, and Jannayak Janta Party's (JJP) Dushyant Chautala was trailing. Other notable losers include Haryana assembly speaker Gian Chand Gupta (BJP), Haryana Lokhit Party's Gopal Kanda, and BJP leader O P Dhankar.

Congress's Vinesh Phogat won the Julana seat, defeating her BJP rival Yogesh Kumar by 6,015 votes.

The Aam Aadmi Party failed to secure any seats.

The vote counting began at 8 am under tight security. Despite exit polls predicting a Congress victory, the BJP consolidated its lead as the counting progressed. The mood in the BJP camp was jubilant, while the Congress camp experienced a shift from early celebrations to disappointment.

In the outgoing assembly, the BJP held 41 MLAs, the Congress had 28, the JJP (6), the Haryana Lokhit Party and INLD had one each, and there were four Independents. Nine seats were vacant. Chief Minister Saini won the Ladwa seat by over 16,000 votes, while Hooda retained his Garhi Sampla-Kiloi seat. Savitri Jindal, who contested as an Independent after being denied a BJP nomination, won the Hisar seat.

According to the latest trends, Congress' Brijendra Singh was leading over BJP's Devinder Attri, while JJP's Dushyant Chautala was trailing. INLD's Abhay Chautala lost to Congress candidate Bharat Singh Beniwal in Ellenabad by 15,000 votes. However, his son Arjun Chautala was leading in Rania over his granduncle and Independent candidate Ranjit Chautala.

The BJP secured victories in several constituencies, including Badshahpur, Barwala, Faridabad, Gharaunda, Gurgaon, Israna, Kalka, Radaur, Pundri, Sonipat, Gohana, Jind, Bhiwani, Pataudi, Palwal, and Faridabad NIT. BJP candidates were also leading in Ambala Cantt, Karnal, Sohna, and Ballabgarh.

Haryana's chief electoral officer Pankaj Agarwal said that three-tier security arrangements were in place at counting venues. Postal ballots were counted first, followed by the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). A total of 1,031 candidates, including 464 Independents and 101 women, contested the election, which took place in a single phase on October 5.

Haryana Assembly Election Results 2024 Live Updates: BJP wins comfortably in Haryana but vote share with Congress close

The vote share of the BJP and Congress turned out to be close even though the saffron party won the elections with a simple majority. The BJP received 39.94 per cent votes, while the Congress managed 39.09 per cent in the assembly polls. Both parties got more votes this time than the last state polls but the Congress saw a 11 percentage point jump, significantly more than BJP's three percentage point rise.

In 2019 assembly polls, when the BJP won 40 seats out of 90 in the assembly, its vote share was 36.49 per cent. The Congress, meanwhile, had a 28.08 per cent vote share for its 31 seats.

The BJP is set to retain power and form its third straight government, a historic first for the state, after winning 48 seats in the 2024 assembly polls. The Congress, which was predicted to win by many exit polls, won 37 seats, according to the Election Commission website.

The INLD won two seats while independent candidates bagged three.

The JJP and AAP both drew a blank in the polls, results of which were declared on Tuesday after elections for the 90-member Assembly were held on Saturday.

Of the 90 seats, BJP did not contest the Sirsa seat while Congress had left Bhiwani seat for its ally CPI (M) to contest.

Meanwhile, INLD, which won two seats, improved on its vote share of 2019, securing 4.14 percent this time as against 2.44 per cent last time when it had won only one seat.

JJP suffered a heavy loss of vote share, a fall from 15 per cent in 2019 -- when it had won 10 seats -- to 0.90 per cent.

Haryana Assembly Election Results 2024 Live Updates: Haryana poll results victory of development, says Goa CM Sawant

Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday hailed the BJP's spectacular election victory in Haryana, saying it was a triumph of development. The BJP on Tuesday clinched a stunning hat-trick win in Haryana overcoming anti-incumbency and dashing Congress' hopes of a comeback. Haryana Assembly Election Result 2024 Live Updates: 'Review poll strategy', INDIA bloc partners tell Cong after defeat in Haryana

After its shock defeat in Haryana, the Congress on Tuesday got some friendly advice from its INDIA bloc partners to re-think its poll strategy ahead of the next round of assembly elections in Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Delhi. Leaders of the AAP, which was keen on having an alliance with the Congress in Haryana, said the biggest lesson from the recent round of elections was one should not be "overconfident" and questioned the grand old party's strategy for the assembly polls.

Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena-UBT and CPI also questioned the Congress' strategy for the assembly elections.

Former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said the single biggest lesson of the just-concluded round of assembly elections was that one should not be "overconfident".

Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia said the people of Haryana wanted to defeat the BJP in the assembly elections and the Congress failed to win due to shortcoming in their election strategy.

Shiv Sena-UBT leader Priyanka Chaturvedi said the results of the Haryana elections will not have any impact in Maharashtra, where elections are likely to be held next month.

However, she wanted the Congress to re-think its election strategy after the grand old party fell short of expectations in a direct fight against the BJP in Haryana.

Haryana Assembly Election 2024 Result Live Updates: Won't be business as usual, need to identify those responsible for Haryana result, says Selja

A blame game began in the Congress on Tuesday as it failed in its bid to come back to power in Haryana after 10 years, with senior party leader Kumari Selja saying the party high command should assess all reasons that led to the disappointing result and identify the people responsible. The BJP scored a record hat-trick of wins in the state, bucking anti-incumbency and overcoming the setback in Lok Sabha polls when its tally dropped from 10 in 2019 to five seats.

The knives were out in the Congress even before the declaration of final results, as party veteran Kumari Selja, who had been sulking during the election which was effectively led by former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, said that "it will not be business as usual" and called for introspection.

"The Haryana poll results are disappointing and I am pained at the disappointment of the Congress workers in the state who have worked very hard and were looking forward to forming their government after 10 years.

"It will not be business as usual in Haryana and I am sure the Congress high command would identify those who negated the efforts to bring the party to power after 10 years," she told reporters.

The Sirsa Lok Sabha MP and former union minister said she was sure that the Congress high command would go into all aspects that led to such results and would identify the reasons and those responsible for bringing such results.

"I'm sure the party will look into all aspects that led to such results in Haryana," Selja said.

Haryana Assembly Election Results 2024 Live Updates: People's trust in BJP has increased, UP Dy CM after victory in Haryana polls

Uttar Pradesh deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak congratulated party workers in Haryana, attributing the victory in the state to the growing trust of the people in the BJP and Prime Minister Modi's Garib Kalyan Yojana.

"BJP has formed a government with a huge majority in Haryana for the third time... I express my gratitude to the people of Haryana... This is the victory of Prime Minister Modi's Garib Kalyan Yojanas. Peoples trust in the BJP has increased. I congratulate all the party workers in Haryana," Uttar Pradesh deputy CM Brajesh Pathak said while speaking to the media.

Responding to Congress leader Jairam Ramesh's allegations about delays in the announcement of assembly poll results, Pathak remarked, "You know when they win, then the EVM is good. The Congress tries to save face by making these claims. This loss is due to the corruption during their regime and the rejection of their politics of dynasty by the people of Haryana."

After the BJP started leading in Haryana, Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh had asked if the BJP governments were trying to build pressure on the local administration in Haryana districts.

"We are filing a memorandum, we are lodging a complaint. We hope that the EC will answer our questions. The results of 10-11 rounds are already out but only four to five rounds have been updated on EC website. This is a tactic to pressure the Administration," Jairam Ramesh told ANI.

"Double engine government in Haryana. Haryana Assembly Election Result 2024: BJP's win in Haryana, 'full stop' on Congress was expected, says Poonia

BJP leader and party in charge of Haryana Satish Poonia on Tuesday said his party's win in the assembly elections in Haryana was on expected lines, and added that the people of the state have now "put a full stop on Congress". Poonia said that the party contested the elections with chief minister Nayab Saini as its face.

"The delivery he has made in a short time and the decisions he has taken have increased people's trust in him," he said in Jaipur.

However, the decision on the next chief minister will be taken by the party's parliamentary board and the new BJP legislative party, he said.

"The exit poll was a poll for the exit of Congress. The people of Haryana have put a full stop on Congress. We were hopeful of this result," the BJP leader said.

Exit polls had predicted a win for the Congress in Haryana.

The former Rajasthan BJP president said the people of Haryana have always been against the Congress.

"People know the emotional way in which the Modi government has worked in the last ten years. The prime minister corrected that gender ratio through 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' campaign in Haryana. He worked to change the lives of many women through various schemes," he said.

Haryana Assembly Election Result 2024 Live Updates: People of Haryana stamped out falsehood, ensured victory of development, says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said the people of Haryana have stamped out falsehood and ensured the victory of truth, development and good governance as the BJP registered its third consecutive victory in the state. Addressing party workers at the BJP headquarters here, Modi said the conduct of peaceful elections in Jammu and Kashmir was the victory of India's Constitution and democracy.

Modi said whenever the BJP forms a government in any state, people support it for a long time and put "no entry" boards for the Congress.

"Congress rarely comes back to power. It was 13 years ago that the Congress came back to power in Assam and there are some states where the Congress has not returned to power for 60 years," he said.

"Once the people throw out Congress, they do not let it come back. They put 'no entry' boards for Congress... it is a party that always thought power was its birthright," the prime minister said.

Modi said the people of Haryana have done wonders and 'kamal' (lotus) has bloomed everywhere.

He said the Congress tried to provoke Dalits, tribals, farmers and youth in all possible ways, but people saw through its tricks and propaganda and rejected the party.

"In the land of Gita, truth and development and good governance have won," the prime minister said.

"Today in Haryana, the guarantee of development has trumped falsehood," Modi said, accusing the Congress of indulging in an international conspiracy to defame the country.

Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday said the victory of the Congress-NC alliance in Jammu and Kashmir is the people's mandate against the anti-people policies of the BJP, violation and oppression of people's rights and misuse of constitutional institutions. He said their coalition government will ensure that it fulfils the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the INDIA bloc is committed to protecting their constitutional rights.

Kharge, however, termed the Haryana election result "unexpected", and said the party will assess the people's mandate.

He also thanked the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana for voting for the Congress.

Haryana Assembly Election Result 2024 Live Updates: Can't accept Haryana verdict; democracy lost, establishment won, says Congress

The Congress on Tuesday said it cannot accept the Haryana Assembly polls verdict as there were "serious issues" about the integrity of the counting process and functioning of the EVMs in some districts, and asserted that it would take up the matter with the Election Commission. Alleging a conspiracy, the opposition party said that in Haryana "democracy had lost and establishment had won".

"Serious questions have been raised by our candidates. We will bring it to the notice of the Election Commission," Congress general secretary in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh said at a press conference with AICC media and publicity department head Pawan Khera.

"What we have seen today in Haryana is a victory of manipulation and subverting the will of the people. It is a defeat of transparent, democratic processes. The chapter on Haryana is not complete, it will continue," he said.

Ramesh said the results in Haryana are "totally unexpected, completely surprising and counterintuitive". They go against ground reality, against what the people of Haryana had made their mind up for which was for change and transformation, he added.

Khera alleged that complaints had been received from Hisar, Mahendragarh and Panipat that there were electronic voting machines (EVMs) with 99 per cent battery on which the BJP won while units with 60-70 per cent battery saw the Congress win.

"Have you understood this conspiracy, where there was 99 per cent battery in EVMs, BJP wins where there is less than 70 pc battery, Congress wins. if this is not a conspiracy, then what is it?" Ramesh said, adding that the complaints were from 12 to 14 seats as of now.

"Ye loktantra ki haar hui, hai aur tantra ki jeet hui hai (Democracy has lost and establishment has won)," the Congress general secretary said.

Haryana Assembly Election Result 2024: No impact of Haryana poll results on Maharashtra elections, says Sena (UBT) MP Chaturvedi

The Congress' defeat in the Haryana polls will have no impact on Maharashtra, where assembly elections are due next month, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi said on Tuesday but stressed the upcoming contest won't be easy for the opposition as well as the ruling coalition.

Chaturvedi said election issues in Maharashtra and Haryana were very different and noted corruption was not a major campaign theme in the northern state, where the BJP was poised to form its government for a record third time in a row. She said industrial projects were moving out of Maharashtra which was also facing pressing issues like unemployment.

"The Haryana polls will have no impact on Maharashtra," Chaturvedi told PTI. The Rajya Sabha MP, whose party is a constituent of the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), claimed that unlike in Haryana, the ruling coalition Mahayuti in Maharashtra is in office through "cheating". The people of Maharashtra do not like the fact that two parties (Shiv Sena and NCP) were split which has led to creation of multiple political outfits, she said.

Haryana Assembly Election Result 2024 Live Updates: Congress wasted chance in Haryana, says Dipankar

CPI(ML) Liberation general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya on Tuesday rejoiced at the BJP's "resounding defeat" in Jammu and Kashmir assembly polls but chided ally Congress for "squandering yet another opportunity" in Haryana. In a statement, Bhattacharya alleged that the BJP had taken recourse to "conspiracies" and "tricks" to win Jammu and Kashmir where elections were held "for the first time since it was robbed of the status of a special category state".

"So much so that the J-&K Lieutenant Governor, acting on the advice of Union Home Ministry, got five members nominated to the assembly, armed with voting rights. But the people saw through all this and foiled the BJP's designs," claimed the Left leader.

On Haryana, where the BJP is all set to form a government for the third consecutive term, Bhattacharya said, "Congress squandered an opportunity as it had previously done in states like Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The party needs to draw lessons from the debacle."

The INDIA bloc leader said there is a need to address all shortcomings, draw a proper strategy and put up a strong fight in the upcoming state assembly polls.

Elections will be due in Maharashtra and Jharkhand by the end of this year.

"What is the role of 'tantar' (in it), we will probe it. We lost many seats with low margins," he further said.

"We received complaints from many places as well. The way the delay took place. Anyhow, the AICC will meet the ECI. There is no doubt that these (results) are 'ascharya chakit' (surprising)," Hooda said.

He said the people of 'Veerbhoomi' (land of braves) Haryana have completely rejected the "negative and divisive politics" of the Congress, which "divides" people on the lines of caste and region.

The people of the state have chosen the BJP's 10-year track record of development and welfare of the poor, he said and asserted that the party's governments at the Centre and in the state will fulfil all aspirations and hopes of the people under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi.

Haryana Assembly Election Result 2024 Live Updates: Kejriwal warns against 'overconfidence' as Congress loses in Haryana

The "biggest lesson" from Haryana is that one should never be "overconfident" in the elections, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal said on Tuesday after the Congress failed to come back to power in the assembly polls despite 10 years of anti-incumbency against the BJP. The Aam Aadmi Party and Congress failed to stitch up a pre-poll alliance due to differences over seat sharing.

While the AAP has lost on all seats it contested, the Congress has also fallen well short of the majority mark in the state, and the ruling BJP is all set to form the government for the third consecutive time.

"The biggest lesson of this is that one should never be overconfident in the elections," said Kejriwal while addressing a gathering of the AAP municipal councillors at an event.

"No election should be taken lightly. Each election and each seat is tough," he added.

In the Lok Sabha polls this year, the AAP and the Congress fought elections together in Haryana.

As part of their agreement, the Aam Aadmi Party contested only one seat, but it lost while the Congress won five out of 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana.

Reacting to the results of Haryana Assembly polls, AAP's state chief Sushil Gupta said that outcome would have been different if there would have been an alliance like the Lok Sabha elections.

150 More Updates
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged victorious in the recent assembly elections, securing a simple majority despite a close contest with the Congress party in terms of vote share. The BJP garnered 39.94 per cent of the votes, while the Congress followed closely with 39.09 per cent. Both parties witnessed an increase in their vote share compared to the previous state polls, with the Congress experiencing a significant 11 percentage point surge, outpacing the BJP's three percentage point rise.

In the 2019 assembly polls, the BJP had secured 40 out of the 90 seats with a vote share of 36.49 per cent, while the Congress had won 31 seats with a 28.08 per cent vote share.

The 2024 assembly polls marked a historic milestone for the BJP as it is set to form its third consecutive government in the state after clinching 48 seats. The Congress, despite predictions of victory by several exit polls, managed to secure 37 seats, according to the Election Commission website.

The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) won two seats, while independent candidates secured three seats. The Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) failed to win any seats in the polls, the results of which were announced on Tuesday following the elections held on Saturday for the 90-member Assembly.

It is worth noting that the BJP did not contest the Sirsa seat, while the Congress had left the Bhiwani seat for its ally, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)], to contest.
