Supercell just announced the new Executioner Evolution in Clash Royale, coming this April. It will be available in the Diamond pass and will be unlockable with 6 Evolution Shards. This new evolution is triggered after one cycle and grants Executioner a special knock-back ability, while boosting his damage potential. Executioner has been a low-picked card in Clash Royale for quite some time. As such, an Executioner Evolution was long overdue. These new changes to him make him one of the strongest defensive cards in Clash Royale.
Having said that, let’s take a look at all the new abilities, statistics, synergies, and counters of the new Executioner Evolution in Clash Royale.
What are the new abilities of Executioner Evolution in Clash Royale?
Unlike recent evolution, Executioner gets two new powerful abilities in his evolved state that are granted after only one cycle. These two new abilities of Evolved Executioner are the Knockback effect and Double-damage to nearby units. Although these ability names are self-explanatory, the circumstances under which they are triggered can be complex. So here’s a breakdown of all the abilities of Executioner Evolution in Clash Royale.
Normally, Executioner starts attacking when an enemy is within 4.5 tiles range. But his axe can reach further to 7.5 tiles, dealing damage to enemies behind his target. In the Evolved Executioner state, when an enemy steps within 3.5 tiles range, his special knockback ability is triggered, pushing enemies back and dealing double the damage. However, if the knockback ability pushes the enemies back beyond his range, the axe won’t deal double the damage.
How to use Executioner Evolution in Clash Royale
The knockback and double damage abilities of Evo Executioner make him great at both defensive and offensive situations. He acts as a perfect counter to melee units like Elite Barbarians, Mini P.E.K.K.A, Hog Rider, and more. Likewise, air units like Inferno Dragon, Baby Dragon, and Phoenix are easily countered as Evo Executioner keeps pushing them back with his knockback effect.
However, Evolved Executioner has some drawbacks with his knockback effect. Every card in Clash Royale has a Push Back Level. Heavier troops like Golem, Mega Knight, and Lava Hound have a much higher pushback level. As such, these heavier troops are not affected by Evolved Executioner’s knockback effect and are only faced with double damage.
