Red Sox’s legend supports Rafael Devers’ decision

During all the controversy surrounding the Red Sox’s designated hitter, Rafael Devers, the team’s legendary player, Pedro Martinez, steps up to support him. His recent statement has opened a new perspective in the fans' eyes, with many backing up the DH’s strong stand on not changing positions in the game.The former Red Sox pitcher, Pedro Martinez, took to X on May 14, 2025, and tweeted a statement in support of designated hitter Rafael Devers.“You have to be Devers to understand Devers.”He further went on to tweet, “If you don’t treat the player, treat the money you’re paying him...Devers does not shy away from working...Devers is not a guy that talks much, he leads by example. When you enter an organization you sign a confidentiality agreement and that needs to be respected on both sides, the front office and the player.”The support from the legendary pitcher seems to have calmed the Red Sox’s fans, who were previously seen taking jabs at Devers for his decision not to switch to first base.After Pedro’s statement on the Rafael Devers controversy, a lot of fans came out in support of the designated hitter’s decision.
