Ayushmann Khurrana recently opened up about his strict upbringing, revealing that his father often disciplined him with "chappals and belts." He shared that this experience has left him with some childhood trauma.
Ayushmann’s father, P. Khurana who passed away last year was a well-known astrologer in North India, celebrated for his expertise and books on the subject. Hailing from Chandigarh, Punjab, he made significant contributions to astrology.
During the interview with the Honestly Saying Podcast, the 'Dream Girl' actor Ayushmann Khurrana shed light on his childhood memories and shared his thoughts on being a father, said, “I became a father in my 20s. In fact,
Vicky Donor was released when I was already a father. It was very different. Both me and Tahira (Kashyap, filmmaker) evolved together because we were very young parents. The best part is that I have a daughter. You become a better person. Daughters teach you to be more empathetic.”
When asked if he was a different father compared to his own, Ayushmann stated, "“I’m a completely different father. Mine was a dictator. Getting beaten with chappals, belts, etc… were par for the course, and of course, there was childhood trauma.... One day I was returning from a party, and my shirt smelled of cigarette smoke. Now, I never touched it (cigarette) because of the fear of my father. But I still got beaten up for it.”
The actor who is married to
Tahira Kashyap, the duo have been together since her school days, tied the knot in 2008. They have two children, a 10-year-old son, Virajveer, and an 8-year-old daughter, Varushka.
Ayushmann Khurrana was last seen in 'Dream Girl 2'. He is set to join Maddock Films' horror-comedy universe with Thama, where he will play a vampire. The film, also starring Rashmika Mandanna,
Paresh Rawal, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, is scheduled for a Diwali 2025 release. Ayushmann's character was teased at the end of 'Stree 2'.
