Report: China vessels used N Korean crews
A fleet of 12 Chinese fishing vessels operating in southwest Indian Ocean used North Korean crews between 2019 and 2024 in violation of UN bans, and many people were subjected to abuses including being trapped at sea, a report by Environmental Justice Foundation said Monday. The use of North Korean crew would be a breach of 2017 UNSC resolutions that required members not to issue work permits to North Koreans and repatriate all remaining North Koreans by end of 2019.
