After the WWE Backlash 2025 PLE ended with some unexpected twists and an interesting storyline, which saw John Cena defeat his career-long rival, Randy Orton, to defend the Undisputed WWE title for the first time since winning it at WrestleMania 41. However, the Stamford-based promotion is back with another edition of WWE SmackDown. In this edition of SmackDown, Money in the Bank Qualifying Matches are set to get underway, and will also develop the storyline further for the upcoming Saturday Night’s Main Event. As per reports, this edition of SmackDown will emanate live from the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina, and will only feature top-tier talents who will play the Money in the Bank qualifying matches, including top stars like Tiffany Stratton, Shinsuke Nakamura, Drew McIntyre, United States Champion Jacob Fatu, Jimmy Uso, Solo Sikoa, and many more.Besides, it will also feature The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes for the first time after his WrestleMania 41 bout against WWE Undisputed Champion John Cena.

Money in the Bank Qualifying matches

As announced by Michael Cole on RAW last time, this edition of SmackDown will host the qualifying matches for The Money in the Bank PLE, which is scheduled to take place on June 7, 2025. The show is going to emanate live at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.
According to WWE, the PLE will feature two Money in the Bank ladder matches, one for the men’s and one for the women’s championship match contract. Likewise, the upcoming episode of Raw will feature the qualifying matches for stars who work on the Red brand.

Cody Rhodes will appear on SmackDown

In this episode of SmackDown, Cody Rhodes will be seen gracing the ring after a long absence following his WrestleMania 41 bout. The American Nightmare has not appeared on any events or shows after facing defeat at the Show of Shows PLE against John Cena and Travis Scott.
However, he is currently advertised to appear on the May 16 episode of SmackDown. Fans are eagerly waiting in anticipation to witness what will unfold tonight on The Blue Brand.
